The Project

The Rainbow Serpent Project will document, on video and website, the creation of a network which spans the globe - a network of groups which meet within prayer and meditation for earth healing. These groups will consist of indigenous peoples from cultures such as Aboriginal tribes in Australia, through to Native American Indians in America. Along side them many others who have an awareness of the importance of survival of indigenous people and their culture.

A small group from Glastonbury, consisting of Earth Energy Workers, Performers, Storytellers, Artists, Therapists and Filmmakers will systematically visit six sacred sights around the globe, creating the space to explore the unity among the world‚s indigenous people. They will teach skills such as dance and theatre work, dowsing and working with earth energies. They will also perform ceremonies linking the six global sights together energetically and meditation practices for all ages and beliefs as well as learning and documenting the knowledge of the communities they are working with, preserving them on film to form a moving image archive of international tribal wisdom.

The Route

Thirty years ago Robert Coon - a visionary - identified seven sacred sites around the earth that represented the seven Chakras of the body. Chakras are active power points typically thought of as residing within the body and feature in many global spiritual traditions such as: Buddhism, Hinduism, Yoga and Kabbala. This is the route we will be taking:-

	Base Chakra - Mt Shasta, North America
	Sacral Chakra - Lake Titticaca, South America
	Solar Plexus Chakra - Uluru. Australia
	Heart Chakra - Glastonbury & Shaftesbury, England
	Throat Chakra - Great Pyramid, Sphinx & Mount of Olives, Egypt
	Third Eye Chakra - Currently at Glastonbury & Shaftesbury, England
	Crown Chakra - Mount Kailas, Tibet

The Film

"Coming From The Heart"‚ is the title of the feature length documentary film that will form main thread of this project. This film will be a journal of our journey to the seven sacred places (Chakras,) in a travelogue style film of our experiences and insights. It will compile important segments of the filmed workshops, talks, ceremonies, performances and meetings with indigenous people.  

At each Chakra site we will be making a half hour mini series in the same style as the Coming From The Heart‚ film but with more detailed documentation of the interaction with the local people in the workshops, talks, ceremonies and performances. This will include interviews with the local and indigenous people their stories and music.

In each country a final film will be created, summarising the work that has gone on. Upon completion of the entire project, this archive of material will then be used to create a DVD box set featuring sections on each country, in depth DVD extras including interviews with tribal elders and members of the local spiritual community, and documentation of the rituals and ceremonies that they do.

Next Steps

We are raising £7000 for a 'fact finding mission'‚ that is scheduled for winter 2005. We aim to do the larger trip at the end of next year. We are currently looking for funding and are engaged in active research into many different film funds and EU funds, World Heritage funds etc.

Film funding will enable the acquisition of portable filmmaking equipment, as well as funding the creation of a large scale website, able to showcase the ongoing video archive of the project.
Private donations from individuals are very welcome.

There will be ongoing workshops in the UK to promote the project, some of these workshops will be charged for, with profits being reinvested into the Rainbow Serpent Project - America has been identified as a key location through which funding could be raised for this project.
